a french flair for the weekend:part I

1900s Paris meets 2011 Athens. Treasures from the Petit Palais have traveled from Paris wafting the essence of Art Nouveau over Athens.  Highly recommended, at the National Gallery until 28/2.

The portrait of Sarah Bernhardt, by Georges Jules Victor CLAIRIN is the  center and most astonishing piece of the exhibition. She was a French stage and early film actress that made her fame on the stages in the 1870s and was very famous in Europe and the Americas. She developed a reputation as a serious dramatic actress, earning the nickname “The Divine Sarah”
